At Partner.Co, we’re all about all kinds of wellness. Our products help you be physically and mentally well, while our Compensation Plan helps you maintain fiscal wellness. There are always more things you can add to what you’re already doing to maintain or even improve your health, though.
Since August is National Wellness Month, we’ve rounded up some of our top tips for maintaining your physical, mental and fiscal wellness. First, we’ll focus on some ways to help your physical wellness!
GET 10,000 STEPS
Every journey — including yours with Partner.Co begins with a single step, but did you know logging 10,000 steps a day (roughly five miles) can have some amazing benefits for your body?
Research has shown that walking 10,000 steps every day can help, firstly, with joint health. If you’re feeling a little creaky or dealing with arthritis in your knees, getting yourself moving in a low-impact way can aid in pain relief over time.
Second, just like other types of exercise, walking can help with weight management. It may not have the same impact as higher-intensity workouts like running or kickboxing, but studies have shown walking does help with weight loss.
Finally, if you’re already working out, a cooldown walk can help you recover faster. You’re not in danger of putting your muscles under more stress after your workout, but because your blood is moving, your body can get the nutrients it needs to recover faster.
Fun Fact: The idea of walking 10,000 steps originated as part of a marketing campaign for a pedometer leading up to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics!
TRY YOGA
Yoga has been practiced around the world for thousands of years for a reason. Well, several reasons, really. Depending on the type of yoga — and there are many, from vinyasa to kundalini to even aerial yoga — you’ll find different benefits for your body.
If you want a faster-paced, more active style, vinyasa or Bikram yoga can get your body moving and sweating, which can help with weight management, building or toning muscles and increased flexibility.
If you prefer a slower, more contemplative type of yoga, look to restorative yoga, where you’ll center yourself after a long day, which can improve your mental well-being and reduce stress.
EXERCISE OUTDOORS
There’s just something about being outdoors that makes everything better. Maybe it’s the vitamin D from sunshine, or maybe it’s the fresh air, but exercising outdoors can be beneficial to your health.
If you normally exercise indoors, try switching it up. The change of scenery can help you reset and refocus, leading to lower stress and anxiety levels.
And if you’re looking to expand your social circle and enhance your social well-being, plenty of groups also engage in outdoor activities such as hiking, group runs and many more. If you’re unsure where to find them, just search social media for whatever activity you love! Chances are there is an established group in your area. If there’s not, why not start one? You may even find like-minded individuals looking to improve their lives with Partner.Co in the process.
