Instead, it\u2019s a celebration of your whole-body wellness!<\/p>\n\n<p>The U.S. Office on Women\u2019s Health created this week-long initiative, which kicks off each year on Mother\u2019s Day, to encourage women to make healthy choices. Whether or not you live in the U.S., we think women around the world deserve to take some time for self-TLC, so we hope you join us on this wellness journey.<\/p>\n\n<p>This year marks the 21st annual event, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/women\/nwhw\/index.htm\">theme<\/a> is \u201cWomen\u2019s Health, Whole Health: Prevention, Care and Well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>That means National Women\u2019s Health Week isn\u2019t just about eating your veggies and hitting the gym (although those are definitely important!). It\u2019s also about taking care of your mental health, managing stress and finding ways to prevent anxiety and depression.<\/p>\n\n<p>Now, we know what you\u2019re thinking. \u201cI\u2019m already overwhelmed! How am I supposed to do all of this?\u201d Well, fear not. Nutrition is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Really think about it: Are you getting all the necessary nutrients you need? If not, now is a great time to make some changes to your eating habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t have to be boring or a salad-fest, either. Try a new healthy recipe off Pinterest and make it a fun experience by inviting friends or family over to cook with you. You can also experiment with new ingredients and flavours to make it more exciting.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-69decd942fe78 wp-block-group alignwide\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top\" style=\"grid-template-columns:30% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.partner.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/PTR_IG-Portrait_WomensHealthWeek-04_04-2022_USA-ENG_v01-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Get your Move On\" class=\"wp-image-67187 size-thumbnail\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>3. <strong>GET YOUR MOVE ON:<\/strong> Start moving! Exercise doesn\u2019t need to be another dreaded chore. Find a fun activity that you enjoy, and stick with it. Hiring a personal trainer or pairing up with an accountability buddy can also help keep you motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health and has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/physicalactivity\/everyone\/health\/index.html\">many benefits<\/a>,\u00a0including lowering your risk for heart disease\u00a0\u2014 the leading cause of death for women. Plus, we all know exercise is a great stress-reliever. So, when life gives you lemons, take it out on those burpees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know that adults should do at least\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/physicalactivity\/everyone\/guidelines\/adults.html\">2 hours and 30 minutes<\/a>\u00a0each week of aerobic physical activity that requires moderate effort? If that sounds like a lot, make your goal feel more achievable, and aim to get at least 20 minutes of exercise a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to incorporate strength training at least twice a week and include all major muscle groups. Why? More than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/falls\/facts.html\">one in four<\/a> older people fall each year. Sadly, caregivers have a greater risk for poor mental health.\u00a0Yet, research shows positive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mentalhealth\/index.htm\">mental health<\/a>\u00a0is associated with improved overall well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a few moments each day for self-care, and it can influence your health in a BIG way. Healthy behaviours include meditation, journaling, therapy and practicing gratitude. Focusing on what you\u2019re thankful for, such as your loved ones, can help you feel more optimistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Above all, be kind to yourself and practice self-compassion. Don\u2019t let your inner voice be a cruel one. Remember that it\u2019s OK to make mistakes, especially when you\u2019re doing your best! Adults need at least seven hours of sleep each night. During the day, spending time in nature can greatly reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.
